For those of you that know and love the "Swing" print first brought out by Crate and Barrel, here is the next piece.
Once AGAIN so so honored to be one of Crate and Barrels artist and present this new piece entitled "Patience" an acrylic, pen and ink by me, Deb Haugen The story behind this piece is one tiny little spider. There was a leaf that had gotten stuck on my porch light in a strong wind. I noticed a fine web, and watched it over time, to eventually become an amazing display of engineering. Nature never ceases to amaze and fascinate me. How do they do that? A Great BIG Thanks goes to Ashley Lempka, Don Cantillo, and Anthony Baratta at Anthony Baratta LLC in New York, for helping to make this project come to life !

She is a very insight-filled Blogger, Artist's consultant, Curator, and Artist herself AND has an amazing and sensitive eye. I am the featured artist for June! (my Birthday month, what a present) Thank YOU L! Artists create art for themselves. It's actually a very lonely and self indulgent practice in itself. We open our hearts, we open our minds and thus open others along the way, hopefully. While we create some of us are in a frenzy, action painters, some of us are in deep meditation. Most of us just click off and go to the zone. I use to play hand drums and this was the description of the "flow" in the zone, where we all were grooving at the same place, music seeming to melt into each other.....on the same wave link, etc. This is what it tangibly feels like to an artist when they are painting in that "flow". I strive for that, I love that place. It is a place of great bravery, great insight, freedom and expression. It is a place of person and non-person. It comes from the Universe, from the inner depths, from heartbreak, from love, from guts and glory, intuition, training, and history...... Oh I love that space. I love stepping into it, love the thought of going there, love the journey inside and glow in the light of the aftermath. Oh I just love being an artist.....it's just so right for me. It's simple because I get to express myself. I get it out. It is a selfish act, and I can dwell on my obsessions. My obsessions with looking at how time passes us thru looking at our environment.
