    • what is organic art?

aloha...

My name is Deb Haugen, I'm an artist.

I supply art to TV and film productions, you've probably seen a lot of my art and not even known it. I'm also very happy to be able to show some of my works at the retail stores Crate and Barrel, Neiman Marcus, and Urban Outfitters, and feel so grateful to be in their group of artists and designers.

People have tagged me "the organic artist" because of the look and feel of my art.  Funny thing is that's what inspires me, the environment.  I'm infatuated by the passage of time and the resulting layering within nature.  I also create meditative pieces which I call my inks, layered intricacies.

I live on the island of Oahu in Hawaii. I married a surfer, and care deeply about the ocean, our fragile environment, and sustainability.  Together with my husband, he shoots pics and I urban sketch, we created "Haleiwa Homegrown"  an homage to the moments of a vintage Hawaii that are slowly disappearing. I use watercolor washes, and pen and ink, and you can see these giclees in my shop.

I went to both Art Center and Otis/Parsons, studied with Jack Reilly, and traveled the world looking at art for over 40 years.
I am now a tour escort and Art teacher with Craftours. We introduce the worlds most treasured crafts to travelers as we circle the globe.

Art is my everything......that, and brown sugar ice cream.

Ten years ago I survived a massive brain aneurysm, you could say I literally blew a fuse.  I do believe I have more things to accomplish, that's why I'm still here.
