Well, I have been on a break....a very long one.
So moving is hell, it really is. Your life just gets put in a glass jar and gets shaken up like homemade dressing.

If you're an artist it gets even worse if you have a shit load of art. I'm a licensed artist, so I license the art sometime with a 3 yr. agreement. I really feel like I have to hold onto that art for the time under contract. So, I have a ton of art. When I left Malibu I took mostly my art on paper, stuffed into portfolios.....they're my best friends.

So getting established in a new city....whew, I need a nap.
Getting established as an artist in a city that is known for tourism? Even more difficult, but I do have ideas.

My goals are simple, I want to bring a recognition of abstract art to Oahu. I'm going to try to introduce local people to abstract art, to classes hopefully down the road. I want people to realize there is a lot more to art than a lot of the tourist art you see in Honolulu.

I want to introduce people to the look and feel of "organic art" on an island that's so green,  lush, and over flowing in abundance of life.

I have been a licensed artist for many years now, you might have seen my stuff at Crate and Barrel, Target, etc. Anyways....I usually have to hold onto the originals for quite awhile just in case as they are under contract. So I was just given the go-ahead to sell some of them.....and my portfolios are bulging at the seams.

​For those of you who might be wondering how I come up with prices, it ain't easy but I think I've worked out at least a fair and reasonable guideline I follow. It has to do with so many things, size, materials, time spent with a particular piece, ever piece of art is different, and hence cannot be priced the same. It often stuns me when I see some art posted like 8 x 10's-100, 18 x 24-400....you just can't do that with my art, there are 18 x 24's that are quick studies and there are some that are days spent in detail....so hope that gives you some insight. Pricing art is never an easy task, and most artists grabble with it, so I have linked an interesting article.

48 x 60 Airbrush on Canvas

​I use to teach airbrush, a sort of freehand paint with air type. Not the kind of airbrush that you normally think of, t-shirts, and ford trucks...haaaaa

​There are things that you can't do with anything but an airbrush, the gradation that you can get gives the canvas that photo realistic look.
