Sometimes I much prefer simple. I usually accomplish my pen and ink meditations at night. They're so crazy busy, intricate pieces that it is so nice for me to see simplicity. The palm will be available soon thru Deny Designs in the way of sheets, clocks, shower curtains, pillows , etc.
I've always loved the lone palm for the silhouette it creates. It's a big part of S. California. My Mom came from Colorado, and the first thing that she said struck her were the wierd palm trees, she had never seen a tall, tall, skinny tree with just a bit of poof on the very top,  She was from Colorado where Pine trees were the norm. She couldn't get over them, and how odd they were, no matter how long she lived in Calif. I've always been attracted to them, have you ever seen a palm in 40-50 mile and hour winds? They literally blow sideways , some of them. I'll never forget a Hurricane with had while living in Kailua, on the windward side of Oahu. The palms that lined the front yard were bent in half, I was sure they would snap, but no the next day they were fine, missing some branches but over all in good shape. I guess they're airo-dynamic.
Palms are majestic aren't they, they seem historical to me also.....like they've been here a long time and seen a lot.
All you really need are 2 palms spaced just perfectly apart for a hammock, there you will find true paradise swinging in the breeze.  Aloha.....

So I belong to this  group on KIVA.org. For those of you that don't know Kiva. It is a private funding source for people around the world that need money for a variety of reasons.
We have funded a womens embroidery group in Pakistan, and a Samoan woman for supplies for her store amongst others.
Check out the web site, it's gunna give you warm fuzzy fellings. It's such an amazing concept people helping people all over the world, without paperwork, banks, and baloney.....it is awesome! They post a need and have people reach out to them,I think this is what's it's all about!

Sooooooo ALOHA!
Hope everyone is good today it's Nov. 15th, wow Thanksgiving is next week. Can't wait for the stuffing. I have it down, but in the meanwhile I draw.....the greatest therapy in the world.
For you who don't know, my husband has worked in Licensing for years and has taken it upon himself to license my art. Now I have had art lying about for years, I've been painting and drawing for .....40 yrs! Yep Some of the names he has sold have been rather impressive, Swatch Watch,  Jimmy'z, Diadoro, Ellesse, now Deb Haugen Art. My art has helped me heal from a massive brain aneurysm 2 yrs ago. It did affect my artwork. It got better, more refined, more defined, more directions, broader in scope.
My husband and I love the ocean, the beaches in Hawaii and Malibu that we grew up on. We care very deeply about keeping the oceans clean and the environment safe for future generations.....we have 2 darling grand daughters that just entered their first surf contest in Haleiwa, so it is near and dear to our hearts.
For all of my Hawaiiana/Surf products please visit http://www.denydesigns.com/collections/deb-haugen-all-art
The Aloha Spirit of Hawaii is palpable everywhere you go in Hawaii there aremany warm hearts, and open arms, cultures mix easily in the melting pot of the Pacific. I hope I have captured just a tad of that feeling in my art. It's such an important message for the mainland I feel like I have to get it out there.
