When I saw the horrible photos of the Tsunami, this was not the Japan I remember. I had to do this instead. To the warm, wonderful, and quirky people of Japan, may the giggles stay with you.

Trying to focus.....I really do go into the zone. I surprised even myself. I turned out what I like to call a nice piece of "Organic Art" even while being filmed, people, eyes, cameras etc. I go to a place that is my history within art, my intuition. I talk a lot about intuition in painting.....maybe it's because I'm old......haa. But I do know I depend on my gut to lead me, and make the next move. It is experience speaking to me to where I might drop that blob of blue. It's having tried and failed so many times, your instinct becomes accustomed to mistakes and fixes. Woops do that ....gotta do this.....rectified! Then all of a sudden one day you change....you need to always change to grow. You CHANGE everything up, new eyes, new approach, and learn a new way to keep fresh. Its a wheel, the path to creativity and the road to the new. Any artist, writer, or musician, chef, or dancer, will tell you to get into the zone of a new approach and have it work, is the ultimate feeling. It's that groove that old jazz musicians talk about. It's the runners high when they hit the 20th mile. It's all the good that you can imagine, it's kismet, it's nirvana.......it is addictive. Drummers drumming together, when it moves into the zone, it's just damn easy, it flows. I've held onto these for awhile. A lot of these were taken in Waialua, on the island of Oahu, and then some in Malibu. I've always loved the simplicity of a single flower, pod, root, etc. You can get lost in the intricacies, at least I do.
It reminds me of the Hawaiian saying "Take one look inside". I love taking a look inside of nature. It never gets old for me. I feel grounded. Enjoy and Happy Spring! |
